Locomotive Breath
I am feeling much better...even went out and managed to get some photos done Sunday afternoon including this one. It was a very gloomy day but quite hot for this time of year.I love old timey steam engines like this one so I wanted to give it an old timey feel. It was a little tough because there was a modern building and restaurant where I was standing trying to get the shot from their outdoor terrace while the engine was belching steam and smoke. I would have liked to have gotten closer for this shot but I would have had to run around a large building or jumped an iron railing atop a brick wall and I just wasn't up to it. As it was the belching stopped fairly quickly, so if I had tried to run around the building I would have missed all the steam and smoke. Anyway I added some grain and vignetting to the image to make it feel a little older. Black and white conversion using gradient map.
I have decided not to post every day. I need to free up some time in my busy schedule. I've been feeling like I have to post something...anything...which is ridiculous and seems like a waste if I just end up posting just any old shot just so I have a post on any given day.

This shot has some great elements. I really like the steam.
One of the good things about rss feeds - you know when people do post. :-)
I really like this one Laurie. I love the B&W conversion. Seems very fitting for this particular shot. Great job!
Absolutely loving old school shot, Love the way the smoke poures from the steam train. Good good capture.
Feel no need to post everyday, post only cause you want to, not cause to have to.

Excellent conversion...you successfully made this shot timeless. Great job!
I love this shot. It feels like I went back in time.
Life is so daily. Post when the spirit moves. You have great pictures to share.
I love this photo, you got the trains steam so perfectly.
I totally understad about not posting everyday, my problem is the time to visit others every day. Photoblogging is a lot of work.
I absolutely love the b/w tones in this one, Laurie. The variations from black to (almost) white is wonderful. And it does indeed feel timeless.
I can totally understand you wanting to pick and choose the days you wish to post. I think that it's important to listen to your muse and take action when you can do nothing but!
Trains are one of my favorite subjects and I'm envious of this one. This is a great shot.
