Decayed Pier

I'm not sure what was here, perhaps a pier. I do know that whatever it was, it was quite large and has been gone a long time. There are slabs of concrete all piled up and broken, I'm not sure if that was part of whatever was there or if it was intentionally piled there to keep erosion down. Sometimes concrete is recycled and used that way. It's not very pretty but I suppose it works and is an efficient use for old concrete.

I took this shot last Sunday at 6PM on the waterfront in Atlantic Highlands. It was a beautiful day. I would have liked some clouds, but, well I haven't figured out how to control the weather yet. We ran into a few people fishing here and we witnessed the catch of the day. I may post a picture of that later.

Yep. Some clouds would have been really nice, which is why I keep a library of coulds and use Photoshop to help things along sometimes. :-) At least you got some nice warm sunlight on the concrete and the people who are fishing.

Oh, that is a pretty scene, Laurie! I found something similar, but with not nearly the number of posts sticking out of the water.

Listen, when you figure out how to control the weather, let me know.

LAurie, are you embracing the dark side? Bottom of the shot not your usual brightness :) Nice capture.

I actually think this is perfect without clouds...it keeps your focus when viewing this shot of the incredible collection of pier supports. Amazing shot!

Lovely seascape Laurie, the dilapidated pier extending to the horizon adds a nice bit of mystery and intrigue. Very nice overall composition.

I like this one very much as it is. The gradients of colors are lovely and the lighting is sublime.

Soldiers of the sea, these concrete piles - don't ask, just thought the alliteration sounded good. No need for clouds or weather-controlling abracadabra, the shot is good as it is.

It looks like as if they've gone through rough times. Beautiful how the sun lays that line of orange on the horizon and how it plays on the rocks. Nice shot!

Excellent shot, looks like they continue to infinity. I think it works fine without any clouds, makes it look crisp.

This is really beautiful, Laurie. I love the colors and the sense of wide-open space that it conveys. Makes me sigh with some relief after a very long week. Thank you!

The concrete may not be all that beautiful in person, but this photo sure makes me want to be there. Great low angle.
