Secure the Bow Line!

I guess if you don't have cleats to tie off to then I suppose a large nail will just have to do.

I shot this in October when I was down at the waterfront walking around and just enjoying the sights, smells, and sounds on a beautiful Autumn afternoon.

This weekend was very busy, not much time to shoot, but I did get ahold of some ND and Grad ND filters for my wide lens...can't wait to experiment!!! I also got a low profile polarizer for my wide angle 12-24mm, the one I was using was vignetting too much and made it so that I had to crop or clone the corners. But OUCH!!! that polarizer was one expensive puppy!!! At least the other one is still fine for my 200mm.

I'm afraid winter will make it tough to find interesting things to shoot. It may be tough to find enough stuff to post especially now that I have 2 photoblogs to maintain...what was I thinking? I'll manage somehow I'm sure.

I also did some Christmas decorating. I always start the day after Thanksgiving and usually finish by the end of the long weekend. I didn't quite finish but I'd say other that the trees, I am 95% done and it looks beautiful inside and out, except that my front yard is still torn up from the continuing remediation efforts. Some day I'll have a driveway and lawn again...sigh...

Ouch. As a former sailboat owner, it scares me to see nails sticking out of pilings like that due to the damage they can cause to a boat.

Your image is really nice. I like the texture of the roap and the piling.

That's a beautiful black and white photo.

You also mentioned filters. I need to learn more about filters and what they do. I really think I want to get some, but not sure what I should get!

I'm always surprised with the way people are able to improvise when they need to. This big nail certainly works well in that regard.

I love the textures of the ropes in the photo, as well as the way it's all composed. Great shot Laurie!

wonderful crispness and detail - did you use the polariser here?

Just contemplating a polariser for my Sigma 10-20, but as you say: OUCH, that price'll bite!

I was thinking about your yard the other day and wondering how things were coming along. Your blogging and photography have come a long way since then, though. Fantastic image today and great news on the filters!

This is a really fantastic sighting. The detail is wonderful.

Look inside, Laurie. There are always amazing things to photograph in our own houses. We don't even realize how many things we have that are cool.

That is one prominent nail! That could do some damage. The thing that appeals to me is the texture of the rope.
