Stage Lights

This is the young man who was responsible for the stage lights during the concert where I took this photo of Jon. He was high up on a ladder busily repairing a set of lights in preparation for the evenings performance. I know this photo is dark, but that darkness somehow seemed to lend an sense of the urgency to the situation. I could have shot it with the flash but chose not to. (I also didn't want to scare him off of the ladder, he was up pretty high.)

The dark and his light tell the whole story. Great shot. It really works.

You gradually going dark on your images :) Whats going on?

Good use of light, maybe I would have preferred to see how high up he was.

I like the lighting, Laurie, and availble light/natural light is always better than a flash...although you've done some great flash work in the past. This is a fine shot!!

The darkness definitely adds to this photo. I think a flash would have masked the scene you were trying to capture.

That is a good shot. I agree with Suby. I would have liked to see how high up he was; however, this shot stands on its own.

I love the photos that show you something you wouldn't normally get to see. This is a great example of that. THis guy works hard to make sure the show goes well, but never gets seen by the audience. Great choice of subject here.

Dangerous work!
You picture works well in the context of stage light. And we can still see enough to understand the image! Well done!

Nice one Laurie, I think this works much better than anything with a flash ever would in this situation. All the dark surrounding the centre is what make this image so wonderful.

At first sight it looked like he was wearing a helmet, but it got clear pretty soon after. I like how he is lighted, great texture of his t-shirt and how he is surrounded by so many darks. Cool shot! I think the shot would not have been as nice as it is now when you would have flashed.
