Steam Bath!

Well it was kinda funny at the time...I was in New Hope a couple of weeks ago when I took this shot. I was stooping down very low to try and get a close up of the drive wheels and pistons etc. (not sure of the technical name) on this old steam locomotive, when suddenly...WOOOOOSH!!! STEAM BATH!!! I wasn't prepared for it and part of me thinks the engineer did it on purpose. (One of the engineers works for the same company as my husband, and does this on the side, so it wouldn't surprise me at all, if my husband gave him the wink and the nod.)

worth the wet i'd say! i really like the way the frame is cut diagonally in half, it really highlights the action in the visible part.

Great shot. I think you should have gone and thanked the guy for making this shot so much better and thanked god that the steam didn't spoil your camera

Wonderful, you should thank the engineer (unless he ruined your capera) since it made the shot really interesting - the steam sets the era without having to be told it's a steam engine.

Oh, what a neat photo! Much better with the steam, I'd say! Any damage to the lens?

sorry i didnt comment yeaterday, blogger was down (as usual)...
when i was young, we used to play cricket in the compound and every time the ball rolled under the car the drivers would start up the car and give off a little puff of smoke as we started to search for the ball, extremely mean people!...

love the b/w, just a great shot..

Well worth the steam bath! Your black and white images just continue to get better and better. Beautiful tones and contrast in this one with the steam and dark steel.
