Russell at Rehearsal

I want to thank everyone for the wonderful feedback on the previous post. I am so pleased that you all liked it.

The other day I posted an abstract of Russell playing his bassoon here. I decided to post a shot of Russell from Youth Orchestra Rehearsal. This was taken a couple of weeks ago. I take a lot of photos of the orchestras that we are involved with and most often they are candid shots like this one.

The youth orchestra is a wonderful group of very talented young musicians. Both Jon and Russell have been members for the past several years. Since joining this group their musicianship has improved greatly and they play some very challenging music. All original classical pieces no arrangements.

You have very talented young men there. Those are difficult instruments to master.
Nice shot and composition.

I second the awesome DOF...enough that you can see the other musicians, but your son (and main subject) is in sharp focus. You brought out the rich colors of the violas, too...or are they violins? I suspect violas since they are located in the back with the bassoon.

Nice shot, Laurie. I'm impressed by people who play these kind of instruments. Makes me short of breath just thinking about it. :-)

Laurie, I like your slice-of-life approach to these photos. It will mean a lot for him to have this photo someday. You must be very proud of him.

Lovely shot, the soft focus on the secondary subjects is perfect. It must be quite a treat to have access like this.
