Black and White Tulip

I should apologize to everyone for teasing you with the food photo. My son Rob was mad at me for torturing him with it. He wouldn't talk to me for a while, just ignored me on AIM and told me I was mean for posting it. He did forgive me eventually. I will be sending him some goodies to make up for it.

This is another one of my black and white flowers. I have been really enjoying doing flowers in black and white. It's very interesting to see how they turn out.

I shot this in my living room using light coming in through the window plus a 60W table lamp from above.

This was very pretty in color too, but when I looked at the individual channels, I found it most striking in black and white, and somewhat high key.

this B&W is beautiful, I love your photo's, every day I check them out (when i should be working). I have recently bought myself a camera and a couple of lenses and have yourself and other photobloggers to thank for inspiring me and keeping me inspired on a daily basis. Hopefully when i'm more confident, (and less self critical) i'll start my own blog.
thank you

Padraig

Tulips are my favorite! I really like this shot. B/W does seem to bring out details that are sometimes not noticed in color shots. Great job.

@Padraig-Thanks. I am flattered that you find my photos inspirational.

My best piece of advice is just to always remember to have fun. That's why we do it right? Good luck and let me know when you start your photoblog.

Hey Laurie...I think you're right; this b/w image shows off the details. I doubt we'd see all those lines and scallops in color. Nice work! It makes me want to try b/w for some florals this spring.

Flower look great in B&W when they are presented well and you've done a superb job on this on Laurie. Wonderful detail and I like the subtleties in the tones.
