Drowning in a Sea of Doubt

Well I am working on building a new and improved web-site. The problem is I am a computer-phobic-techno-boob, and I know precious little about such things, well at least HTML, web-sites, FTP servers, and blah, blah, blah anyway. But...I am determined, if nothing else, to conquer this new frontier. I know most of you are probably thinking; "Wow what a dinosaur! Must be stuck in the 19th century, or living under a rock, or something."

My methods for managing my site now are unconventional to say the least, but hey, they work well enough for me, and the bottom line is I can do it...sort of. Without Rob here to help me, I have to slog through and do things trial and error. Russ and Jon "act" as if they know nothing about it, but they are wise to me and don't want to end up as my personal IT guys like Rob was, so they are playing dumb with me I suspect.

On an up note, I actually talked to Rob yesterday on the phone. He got a local phone number through AIM and I can call him if he's on line for free. He cannot call out but if he's on line anyone can call him. He sounded good, but they had a power failure on base and the lights and air conditioning went out making it pretty brutal. His laptop battery was dying and died during our conversation so it was cut short...oh well, I'll take what I can get.

the computer thing is excellent...it really is what happens every time my boss gets onto the computer; all that's missing are the swearwords!!
A great shot btw, love the way the wave's been frozen

however frustrating, by learning to do it yourself you will find that it is the best way to achieve exactly what YOU want...I think you'll be an IT wizz in no time :) Love your image i really like the contrast between the rather angry, wild subject and the peacefully calm background...calm after the storm so to speak.

I think this shot is magic Laurie!!! It captures a real moment that although repeated over and over again, looks unique here. B&W...perfect choice!

I'm a computer boob too. Don't know much but have fun with what I do know. Love the cartoon. Its me too.
Grabbing a few moments with your son is worth it even if its cut short. Better than nothing.
Great stormy sea shot Laurie.

Nice shot, Laurie. I like how you froze the splashing water in mid-air. This looks very good in B&W.

I can totally relate to that avatar, especially at work. You need to tell me how I can download it to send to my IT guys at work when our system goes down. It's hilarious.

Dotun...The EXIF was 1/80 sec. @ F5.0 @ 185mm ISO 100. This was taken last October very late in the afternoon.

I cam across it when I was re-organizing my photos and I liked it so I posted it.

Hi Laurie..... nice "ACTION" shot! You're right, the self-portrait is gross but I can totally relate, especially lately (I do web design for work). I look forward to seeing your new site.

So glad to hear that you are able to talk with Rob. Hope that you have lots more opportunities!

Your photo frustrates me (probably reflecting your sentiments regarding your new website)...I don't really know what I think about it. I like the composition, but I'm not fond of the tones.

Great self-portrait...i can relate.

That's a funny animation! It's pretty brutal, though. :-) I'm glad to hear that technology is helping you to stay in contact with your son!

Laurie, once you learn this techie stuff it'll become second nature. It's kind of like getting lost while trying to follow directions in traffic. Unscramble the wrong turn and you'll always remember how to get there.

The ocean is soothing no matter what the weather, so I'm partial to shots of waves frozen in time. I live one hour from the coast, but don't get over there enough.

So glad to hear you're in regular touch with Rob. I'm praying for your family. It's tough, I know, even though you can exchange emails and occasional phone calls.

Laurie, I feel exactly the same way. Paul tried to get me started in Pixelpost, and it totally intimidated me. So I finally settled on manipulaying blogger to give me a home page I could live with. My son, of course, plunged right in and set up a lovely site! (I think I hate him.)
