Gliding
I've been doing anything but gliding lately. It's just been too hectic, and I'm feeling exhausted! Russ finished the 9 performances at NJPAC and now it's time to start at Algonquin Arts in Manasquan for 8 more performances over the next 2 weeks. Manasquan is "down the shore" as they say here in NJ which means shore traffic. We thought to have him stay overnights for the Saturday night and Sunday matinée performances but the cheapest hotels that were reputable were $200/night! Anything we found cheaper had 2 night minimums @ $160/night, or not recommended by the theater company. This means commuting the entire time.I am looking forward to the possibility of wandering around for a few hours while he is doing his performances. I think I will go to the beach and maybe take some night shots while I'm there. I will have about 4 hours to kill each of those days after all.

A perfect time to rest and just slow down. Traffic can be so stressing and tiring. Nice to know its half over. Yikes those are high rates.
Hang in there.

.. the shape of the dark wing continues the design of the head and extending until the end of the space: beautiful and elegant!
Laurie, what a beautiful and inspirational shot. There's feeling of peace here. The title is perfect. I hope that you get an opportunity for some serious down time. It sounds like you need to recharge your batteries a bit. :-)
Cool. Must not be easy to capture this bird in mid flight
sounds like a packed shot, doesnt show in this shot at all...very elegant and beautiful...
wow,nice shot...!
you COULD take shots of his gig,so all of us can see...!!
although the beach does sound like a lot of fun,photographically...
Great shot, looks good in mono.:)
This is great, excellent captured.
Superb, simply superb.
Wow, great job with this. I can never quite get these shots to look right.
what a great shot Laurie ... just perfect glide captured.
my favorite type of shots - birds in motion. Nice shot.
An excellent capture, what lens did you use?
Laurie, this image of a bird gliding is so soothing. It sounds like you have some good photo outings planned during Russ's performances. Looking forward to seeing the night shots, too!
Szche...Thanks! The lens is a Tokina 80-200 mm f 2.8 @ 200 mm. It's the lens that is almost always on my camera. I love this lens. I think Tokina discontinued making it. I think it was replaced by their 50-135 mm f 2.8, although you may still be able to find one. I don't remember what it cost but I know it was less than half what the NIkon equivalent was and it's a really nice piece of glass, although a bit heavy. I often use a monopod on long shoots.
Very nice capture ! great shot ...
I am right there with you on time to glide. I have had no spare time it seems either. This is a awesome capture. Birds are great.
Great shot Laurie. I love the motion in this.
Very nice, wonderful timing and perfect camera setting. Very elegant with the arched wings.
nice, great sense of space and freedom - great how you focussed on the head!
