Looking Through the Eye of a Needle
I've been tagged by Bonnie Bruno from Photo Buffet. That means I have to tell you all 8 things you might not know about me. Hmmm...Interesting...let me think...1. I was very much a Tom Boy as a child. I had 3 older brothers and liked to play rough and tumble with them. My Barbie Dolls drove Tonka Trucks and were construction workers in the back yard.
2. In high school I was a bit of a rogue latent "Hippie Chick" complete with the fringed moccasins and embroidered gauze shirts and wrap skirts, hair down to my behind and feathers and beads adorning my braids. (What was I thinking?)
3. I never finished college. I left home and school at 19 and worked as a copy editor for an advertising agency. I got married at age 21 and I stayed at the agency until I had my oldest son. I became a stay at home/work from home mom after that and I am still doing that today.
4. I am an avid fitness enthusiast (although some health issues had gotten in the way the last couple of years). 2 years ago I could pass the PT test for a 21 year old woman that had just finished basic training for the Army. I was 42 at the time. I still run several miles a few times a week and do push ups, crunches, weight training, and such as well.
5. My favorite show on TV is "House".
6. I love to read ghost stories and folklore from places where I go on vacation. I go to the local bookstores and pick up all books on local lore and such.
7. I am a terrible gardener which is why I love photographing flowers so much. I figure it's the only way for me to "grow" a garden.
8. I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.
Now I have to tag 5 photographers that I admire that hopefully haven't been tagged yet, and I hope they don't mind.

Cool, Laurie! I love the "Hippychick" stuff! :-) It's really nice to know other 'stuff' about each other and it's fun to visit the other sites of the next 'victims' of the tags!
@ Paul...My parents weren't too happy about the "Hippie Chick" phase. They had lived through the "real" thing in the late 60's with my significantly older brothers (12 and 14 years older than me).
VERY SAD FACE :( How come I did not get a tag???? (Want to see you get out this one lol)
Suby
Ah this is such a neat shot, Laurie. So creative and original!
And I love watching House, too.
Finally the cameo will know where to pass. ...
great image - the fact that you see the second needle trough the eye of the first one is just GREAT !
Love the maco and the 2 needles and the shadow. Good stuff.
Very interesting and fun tidbits about yourself laurie. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful macro!!!!
Loved the hippie chick description!!!! I love that 70's look!!!! I wish I could see some of your photos of that phase.
I wonder were you into "goth" or "punk" look as well???? ... i got a feeling you woudnt have tried that.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful shot!!! I LOVE this!
I still wonder what I will be when I grow up, too!
Very creative macro and nicely composed.
What a wonderful list of items you shared, many thanks for the tag ;) - I appreciate it.
a great macro, and great to get to know the person behind the shots a little better!
I think I'm in love! LOL!
You are a piece of work, Laurie :)
I like the eye of the needle within the eye of the needle shot and how the thread seems to connects the whole thing together. Very creative.
I like the "8 things you might not know" idea. It gives us viewers a chance to know the photographer better and more insight into the thinking behind your work. I'd love to see an old picture of your "hippie chick" days (especially with the feathers and beads in the hair...very cool). It's amazing when we all look back, the things we used to do that seemed like several lifetimes ago. Thanks for sharing.
I've seen your work around Vazaar and Weekly Shot and came by for a visit. I liked it so much, I added you to my regulars list on Mugging...Over Coffee [see links at http://www.animaladvocate.net/muggingoc/].
Love your shots. I gave this one all high marks when rating it at WS. Great to learn more about you as well. Cheers!
I'm the same with ghost stories and such, when I travel. I was just in DC, and wondered if anyone had died in the room I was staying in. hee hee. one can only hope!
