This was shot about 1 hour before the previous photo just as the fog was starting to roll in. The boat off in the distance almost looked like it was just suspended there.I am back from visiting colleges with Russell. It was long and stressful. I have come to the conclusion that all the info sessions and tours are from the same script with the exception of West Point.
This trip we saw Skidmore in Saratoga Springs New York and Ithaca in Ithaca New York. Russell liked Skidmore although it is even a bit small for his liking with only about 2300 students. He is looking for colleges that are small but with between 4000 and 6000 students. There was a lot that he liked but it sounded a little discouraging since they have an acceptance rate of less than 10% and this year they expect the highest ever number of kids applying to colleges in this country ever! Figures! They also have only 2 scholarships that they offer and it's the most expensive school he's visited thus far.
He was less enthusiastic about Ithaca unless he is definitely going as a music major but as of this moment he is still undecided and Ithaca didn't impress him as much as the others in the sciences which is an area of interest to him. However he did like the idea of possibly combining music with business, so it's still a possibility and there are more possibilities for scholarships. I personally didn't think the campus was all that nice compared to the others we've seen thus far. Russell also wasn't to thrilled with the campus and location. I will say that the music program does sound good and we liked the music school facilities very much.
We still have a handful of schools yet to visit and investigate so we will be busy with this for some time. It is so very stressful! I am tired from all the driving walking and just plain overwhelmed with information overload. I need a good night's sleep in my own bed I'm exhausted!

This shot reminds me of David Hasselhoff :D
that boat looks as though it's floating on nothing! great shot :)
those two pictures are totally perfects!
That boat does look like it is floating on nothing at all. Maybe it's a ghost ship of some long lost sailer! Eerie! :-)
I remember those college trips from a few years back. We did the east coast tour: Boston College, Brown, Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, Ohio State, Miami of Ohio, etc. Talk about boring.
Now, with one entering 10th grade, it's time to go again!
Great shot Laurie! I love the lighting.
A real "am I really seeing that ?" shot !
Looks like a hot, sultry day brewing there. The water looks inviting.
baywatch..! hehe...
well russels in a similiar dilemna that i was in,or so i'd like to think...i always wanted to go to a music school maybe,MI or berklee...OR a photography school, brooks, parsons etc.but that really didnt work out somehow,i could have followed my gut/passion,but practicality soon made the decision..!
its not AS big, music especially...so somehow it didn really fit in...
Very very serene calm and comforting image :D
Levi and his family are adjusting well. His mother just recently had an operation on her eye to help her see better, and one of Levi's brothers has a job. It will take time, but they are slowly getting on their feet.
Sky and water meld into one. Lovely.
I'm doing the same thing, Laurie -- traveling to visit colleges. Mine is for my doctorate but I'm with you. It is exhausting and information overload.
I love the light on the lifeguard stand...the suspended boat is amazing! This is beautiful!
Nice calm beach view... like Baywatch indeed.
I have had the pleasure to discover your blog today. I like very very much your work. I come certainly back later on your blog.
I like this shot a lot - love what you've done with it !
