Dog Fish
This shot was taken Saturday at Ken Lockwood Gorge in Hunterdon County NJ. It is a lovely spot where you can go fishing, hiking, biking, and generally exploring. Needless to say there were many people out enjoying the gorgeous weather. The water was pretty turbulent, murky, and muddy from some wicked near monsoon weather we had on Wednesday and then again on Friday. I went with black and white for this because the water looked much more pleasing in black and white as opposed to muddy in the color version. The dog in this photo was having a grand old time running around all over the park. No one knew who he belonged to and of course the fishermen were rather purturbed that he was in and out of the water scaring off the fish. We were asked several times if it was our dog and of course it isn't. I got the feeling that at least one particularly annoyed fisherman didn't believe us when we said it wasn't ours.

Hey! Looks like you caught a Lab.
I love this one... so full of question.. and after reading the photo description, it gave me a chuckle as i can imagine myself in the fighermans shoes! the detail and contrast you have captured are fantastic.
Looks like fun ...for the dog!
wow! cette photo elle n'est pas "belle", elle est "géante"
i like this in black and white, the shadows are nice too. I thought at first glance this was a fisherman using a gun dog to help retrieve the fish, silly me!
Laurie, that's fantastic and the B&W is perfect! I loved the story. If it were me, and I was fishing, I think that I would have put the pole down and petted the dog! I just can't resist them and no amount if fishing is worth ignoring a dog! I probably would have grabbed my camera and followed him around. :-)
Dogs just wanna have fun! I wasn't able to fish with my dog along either as there was no keeping him out of the water (labs are like that). He would swim out to retrieve the lure and bobber after I would cast thinking that I intended for him to retrieve it.
This looks great in B&W. I like the foam floating on the surface of the water.
I really like this slice of life and your choice of black and white.
Looks like you took some time for self this weekend. I'm so glad.
I still can't get my pictures to come up on the Publish Your Photo part of the Picassa Blog site.
That's never happened before. I'm very frustrated but will keep trying and will continue to enjoy your postings in the mean time.
It works well in B&W Laurie.....but now I am wondering what it was like in colour :-)
He looks like he is fishing for the dog :) Bet he would have liked that
Nice shot, Laurie. With the angle of the fishing line, it almost looked at first like the fisherman hooked the dog. :-)
hehe,nice shot....
i can imagine how frustrating he must be for the people who were fishing....
the last time i went fishing,it took me like 2 hours to catch a decent sized fish, but it slipped out and fell back into the water when i tried to take it off the hook...
wonderful shot...the lighting in this is extraordinary.
Looks like the pup is trying to go out and "retrieve" the fishermans's fly. Very nice capture.
He looks he's going straight to the hook! It might have been a big catch, but perhaps not a pleasant one for neither the fisherman nor the dog owner (whoever he/she is)
Nice catch. I'd be interested to see how it looks like in colors.
