Reach Out

This is a shot from Upstate New York. I just loved the rich color. The flowers seem to be reaching out.

I've been really busy especially now that the kids are getting ready to go back to school. Lots to do and somehow, once again I've managed to fall behind. Oh well!

I had been approached about doing a large portrait job, but it seems that the organization has changed their mind and decided to go with one of those big operations. One of those companies that do the school portraits. I am disappointed, but oh well. It is hard for an independent photographer to compete with those massive international operations for jobs of that size.

On the up side, I still have a gallery that wants to hang my work. I am just waiting on them to finish renovations. Tentatively it will be some time in September, but they are a little behind schedule at this point so we will see.

These are beautiful. Very nice shot, and you are right, the colors are rich. That's too bad about having the portrait job yanked from you. However, congrats on the the gallery showing. Please be sure to let us know where and when. Will you be at the opening so that we can meet the photographer, if we want to make the trip?

Their loss laurie not yours, a poor choice, they don't know what they're missing.
The flowers are lovely, colours and depth are perfect as usual.

The rich colors of the flowers really make this shot. The flowers almost look like wood shavings.
As others have said, its their loss for not using you for the job. School pictures aren't always what they are suppose to be...
So happy to hear that the gallery is still ON....Your pics. deserve to be shown.

Simply lovely. Gorgeous colours and the dof is perfect. There is a mindset that only large corportations can do the job. I always came up against the same attitude in my line of work.

The choice of focus and depth of field are excellent. The out-of-focus flowers add to the sharpness of the main subjects.

Laurie, I'm sorry the portrait job didn't work out. Who knows, maybe it would have been a huge drag--and you are too creative to throw your energy away. You're right; those large operations seem to crowd out individual photographers. Shame.

These flowers are really pretty. In fact, I have this same shade and color in my garden out back...now if I could remember the name of them! That's the challenge...
