Young Ecologist
This is the boy whose hand is in the previous post. This was shot on Saturday afternoon in Ken Lockwood Gorge in Hunterdon County NJ. He was there with his mom dad and sister exploring the ecosystem in the pools along the banks of the river there. They were having as blast and I snapped a few candids of the kids while we were talking with the parents. They graciously allowed me to post the photos that I took and I am grateful to them for granting me the permission to post them.If I had planned to do a portrait shot like this, I would have liked to have either used my reflectors or perhaps some fill flash to balance the light on his face more, but I didn't plan on doing any portraits that day so I wasn't prepared. From now on the reflectors stay in the car with me!

Laurie this is a beautiful portrait. I love the backlighting. Keep your reflector in the car. This is great.
would he have posed so naturally though had you started fussing around and thrusting reflectors in his face? it's a fine shot as it is.
David...I think he might have. No matter how hard I tried to get a photo of him without him aware of it, it was as if he had radar and knew to turn to the camera and flash that beautiful smile of his.
I wish my kids were that co-operative. :)
A lovely photo without reflectors! It has a great outdoors feel to it.
Well Laurie, even without the reflectors it;s still a brilliant capture
I actually like the way light seems to be bouncing off him :) Lovely shot.
Nice portrait. Radiant smile!
What a great smile!
Laurie, this is a fantastic shot.......I love this king of images.... very very nice!!!
Actually, informal photos like this probably look better being informal anyway. It's a great shot of a kid having fun.
Yeah a reflector would do only good there, but still you managed to make a very good photograph! If i were his dad i would be very happy to have this photo in house on the wall :D
Where does that vignette comes from?
