Young Ecologist's Sister

The boy from the previous post has a beautiful younger sister. Again this was a candid shot and I really wish I had been prepared with a reflector to balance the light on her face better. Regardless, I still really like these very candid shots of the kids. They were so easy to photograph. I didn't manage to get a smile from her but I know she has a lovely smile. Her dad sent me a couple of shot of her flashing her beautiful smile. Although I must say I find her serious expression to be very "real" and holds a lot of impact for me if that makes sense?

No reflector needed on this one either. I just love the glow around her head. Don't think the smile is necessary at all.

nice shot, she is lovely indeed. Did you intentionally leave the dark patch on the lower left?

dotun...Thanks.

The Gorge is a is a secluded place that is buried deep in a wooded area with a heavy canopy of trees.

The sun is filtered through this heavy canopy of trees. The light that did come through was quite harsh and caused there to be many hot spots and deep shadow. I wanted to draw the eye up toward her face so I burned and dodged the lower portion trying balance the hot spots, but they were so hot that it looked really odd so it was a compromise to just vignette around her torso. That yielded a more balanced shot and still put the focus on her face.

I shot this in Landscape mode originally, because I like the surrounding scenery, but I ended up cropping it to portrait because there was a pretty big hot spot on the rock just out of frame which really distracted.

If I crop this any more to remove the lower part of the image and its flaws, it starts to deteriorate in image quality a bit too much I think.

What a meaningful look from this little lady.

I'd be surprised if anyone here (uk) would allow me to photo their daughter let alone post it, everyone here seems so obsessed with paedophillia that its difficult even to take pictures of your own children at a school play anymore, knee jerk gone mad. its a shame, last weekend I was shooting my 2yr old son in a play park at a local beach and the instant I took out my camera I could feel and see the other parents watching me like hawks with dissaproving eyes, it made me quite uncomfortable. I don't blame them, the media seems to love this subject and causing hysteria, I just find it such a shame.

However, yet again a nice post, I do find the dark right arm a little distracting, not that I am qualified to comment on a technical basis.

A very nice shot of a handsome little girl. I guess she was a bit nervous about being photographed.
Good job. It still feels very natural and candid.

I like the shot but have a feeling it will be even stronger as a B&W image
