2 Cellists
This was shot back in the Spring at an NJIO concert. Cynthia Longley was a guest musician who played Vivaldi's Double Cello Concerto along with NJIO member Martin Steinberg during the NJIO Spring Concert series.
Jon and Russell have been involved with the NJIO now for several years. It's a great group of musicians from all walks of life and a wide variety of ages, hence the name New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra. Jon and Russ have both benefited greatly from being a part of it. Please visit their website NJIO.org for more information.

Great shot, Laurie. I'm sure that they'd be happy to have one in their portfolio, if they keep such things.
I wonder if musicians at this level, once they've played a piece of music so much as to have it memorized, really follow the sheet music. Hmmmm.
Very beautiful image. Did you airbrush her skin or is her complexion that flawless? That definitely is one for her (and your) portfolio. I remember when I used to play trumpet, when I played a piece for so long, I generally didn't need the sheet music, but just played from memory and watched the conductor's cues (and did a lot of counting during long rests).
Very sharp image.
Bonsoir,
Great shot..Wonderful tones and sharpness..Bravo!
Amazing and beautiful shot. Her skin is like velvet. I feel I can almost touch it.
nice shot Laurie, love how the light is creating a soft glow around Cynthia, she is beautiful!
@Russ-Thanks! I did not air brush this one. Her skin is indeed that beautiful, however it was shot at 1600 ISO and I applied a little noise reduction to it, which ads a very pleasant luminance to the skin. I will often apply it to portraits that don't need any noise reduction just because I really like the look and it's only 1 click so it's easy.
Thanks Paul. It really depends. Sometimes they play totally from memory and sometimes they don't. It probably depends on how well they know the music, how much they have rehearsed it together, and how well the rest of the orchestra knows the music. In this case the cellists are pro and the majority of the orchestra are students and advanced amateurs and some professional mentors.
Very nice. They "look the part".
quel portrait généreux de ta part
tout est beau.
Music, concentration, poetry.A fascinating moment captured with great mastery.
Beautifully sharp photo in what must have been tricky lighting conditions, I am impressed (as ever) !
looks a bit airbrushed indeed. great light, too. you captured the two of them beautifully.
A great double portrait. Brilliant job asyour habits!
Gorgeous shot. your portraits are amazing.
Marvelous shot, Laurie. Of course I look at it from the techy side... what was thie ISO? Shutter speed? F stop? This worked on every level.
@John...Thanks. I'm too lazy most of the time to put that info in the post. That's one of the nicer features in Am3. Here is the EXIF:
ISO 1600,
shutter:1/50 sec. (with mono-pod most likely),
aperture: f5.6
lens: 80-200 mm f2.8 at 200mm
Absolutely brilliant shot - perfect angle and the lighting is magnificent. Makes me want to head to a concert again soon.
Have to add, brilliant shot
Great capture..
Beautiful candid portrait!
Cynthia was in my band several years ago. I just had some super 8 film developed from a show we did. Yes, she IS that beautiful and not in need of Photoshop.
