The Cabin
previous / nextThis is another shot from Millbrook Village. I loved the weathered and worn look of this place. The light was harsh but I think the deep shadows created by the harsh light added to the mysterious mood of this shot. I probably should have posted it for Halloween, but just hadn't thought to. I've been a bit distracted the past couple of weeks. There's just so much going on right now...It's a busy, busy time!
I'm still waiting for Rob to get home. I still don't have an exact date or time when he will arrive and it's making me crazy! I half expect him to just show up and every time the doorbell or phone rings I get all excited. I just wish he would get here, but on the other hand if he doesn't get here for a few days he might be here for Thanksgiving this year, the first time in 3 years that he would be here for Thanksgiving. He's never missed Christmas with us since he went into the service, but always Thanksgiving. He doesn't like Turkey dinner but I will gladly cook something he loves instead! Ukrainian Easter is his favorite "food" Holiday so maybe I will have that for him.

I like the level of contrast in this...and that you can see through the front window to the back window...great detail! I also love the weathered wood. This is very nice!
Wow, Laurie. I really like this. It's more than an old building; it's a MOOD. That's one element of your photography that appeals to me, and why I keep coming back--I know I can expect a certain mood with each photo. Good job!
Praying for you as you wait for your son's return. What an exciting, nerve-wracking time!
Wow! How stunning!
I agree with above commenter .... definitely has a MOOD.
And the anticipation builds. I hope he gets home soon but having him home for the holiday would be wonderful.
It doesn't have to be turkey anyway. I know you will be cooking up a storm of all of his favorites...right?
Love this moody, weathered barn picture. I always gravitate towards this type of picture.
Hang in there Laurie.
Fantastic shot, Laurie! I love window shots and the b/w of this is perfect. Nice work as always.
image with an high contrast, i can feel the atmosphare of this village. well done
Very cool Black and White.
I can almost feel that old wood...love it.
Superb, I love the way this shot turned out with the deep blacks and so much texture in the boards. So often B&W conversions look a little washed out - this is an example of a B&W should look like. Very nice.
A wonderful B&W!
Ah Laurie, welcome the soldier home for me with my thanks for what he is doing.
really like the light in this one...especially on the wood at the bottom...
A very suggestive photo, of those that directly go to the heart...
I like this shot a lot. Well composed, great contrasts that underline the atmosphere of the entire setting. Im my opinion goes well in either B/W or Duotone. Well done!
Bonjour
Splendid shot and great tones
