The Reveal
previous / nextWednesday morning dawned foggy. I was very excited since fog isn't terribly common here, at least not fog that hangs around long enough for me to drop the boys off at school and then go out to shoot. Usually it's lifted by the time I finish with the morning chaos, but this time was different. It actually seemed to get thicker as I drove my morning route to drop the boys off at their respective High Schools.
The fog slowly lifted to reveal the splendid Fall colors by the Rahway River in my little Mohawk Park. I was very damp and raw cold but it was well worth a little discomfort and some doggie pies that I didn't quite manage to avoid...Grrrrr!
I have a few photos from my foggy morning stroll that I will share here and on Parallel Universe over the next few days.

This is gorgeous, Laurie. Postcard, poster-worthy, hang-on-the-wall gorgeous.
Holy cow!!! Dawn is 1000% correct!! This is BEAUTIFUL!!
Please, do tell;

Anything else...
@Dawn...Thanks! It's good to see you! I hope all is well with you. I was thinking about you! Your ears must have been ringing.
@DNR Thanks. Here's the skinny:
Camera: Nikon D200
Lens: Nikon 28-70 mm f2.8
Exposure mode: full manual
ISO: 400
Shutter speed: 1/320 sec.
Aperture: f 8
Focal Length: 28 mm
Tripod: No (I was too lazy and cold to take the time to set it up.)
Shot in RAW
Most of the PPing was done in Lightroom. Basic exposure adjustments, color balancing, and curves adjustments in Lightroom's Develop Module. A tiny bit of dodging and burning and resizing and sharpening applied in Photoshop Cs2.
Laurie
Beautiful colors, Laurie. I really like this. We had massive fog here in PA, too, that hung around all day and most of the evening. Unfortunately, I had too much STUFF to do and couldn't shoot it (but I captured some last Sunday morning). Cheers!
This is awesome. I hear you with the lack of fog. When I do see it it's out of reach as I am heading to work.
Perfect framing with the perfect fog. It's a truly lovely shot.
love the fog among the colours...so dreamy and outlandish...
quelle beauté dans une seule photo! magnifique!
Who can resist a foggy morning, even one with 'doggy pies'?! Very nice, Laurie, it's a good dreamscape. I particulary like the reflections in the water through the fog.
wow, what a great forest shot - that reflection is just wonderful :)
Nice Shot!
That is awesome! Gorgeous landscape! It is almost too beautiful ! ;-)
Bonjour,
Wonderful shot..Perfect and beautiful..Bravo!
Your photos are stunning! I'm so looking forward to exploring your archives.
I get excited when it's foggy. The last time, things closed in on us around midnight. I went outside and tried some long exposures in the dark, using available streetlights to paint the scene. It was ethereal and fun, and it reminded me why I so very much love to take pictures.
By morning, it was clear again. I'm glad I went out when I did.
Gaaa, once again you wow me.
The care and beauty you put
into your compositions is
amazing. Great work.
that really is beuatiful; terrific composition and the colour is lovely
fantastic capture, wonderful colors, excellent blog
Wow, what a fantastic photo! I shared it with the good people at the Rahway River Association. They will be impressed.
@the Contrarian...Thanks so much for that. In all my years living just a block or so from the Rahway River, I did not know of the association. Thanks for passing my blog on to them and for giving me their link. I will have to get in touch with them and see if there is anything I can contribute to the cause of preserving this little river of ours.
Thats great! I know the changing leaves don't hang around very long so it's especially nice you managed to get them on a foggy day.
Very very beautiful shot. Well framed and the fog makes it even better.
Stunning!
WOW! absolutely beautiful.
I can't comment as much as i could since I tend to be at work and access to the coments is restricted, its classed as social networking! however I still check out and thoroughly enjoy you pics on a daily basis.
