Happy New Year! An Apple a Day...

previous / next

...Keeps the Dr. Away. I will eat healthier in 2008. I will exercise more in 2008. I will save more money in 2008. I will spend less money in 2008. I will be more charitable. I will give up (fill in the blank). It's time to make those dreaded New Year's Resolutions. So what are yours this year?

A few years ago I resolved not to make resolutions...Instead I reflect on the year before and think about the positive things in my life and try to let go of the "bad stuff". It's not as easy as it sounds. I think sometimes we let the "bad stuff" define the year for us because every year around this time I hear more people say things like..."I will be glad when this year is over! It was a bad year!" than I ever hear people say "It was a great year. I just hope next year is as good!" I wonder if it really was as bad as we perceive? Or do we tend to let the bad outweigh the good? Does the bad stuff make us forget about the good stuff? So this year I think I will "resolve" to focus on the good stuff, and try to minimize the impact the bad stuff has on my life...after all there will always be bad stuff.

So here is a Happy New Years wish to all of you. I wish you good health, prosperity, and happiness in 2008. Remember the "good stuff" it will make the "bad stuff" easier to take. Be safe in your celebrations please!

PS...I am having internet trouble so I haven't been able to update my sites. I will be back when it's all fixed...Thanks!

Whatsoever things are good and pure, think on these things.
Your post's point is well taken. I need to change my focus somewhat too. Life is really good and 2008 will be too.
Happy New Year Laurie

A very happy 2008 to you, Laurie! This is a beautiful photograph, and your words are too true. The only resolution that I kept last year was to learn more about photography and to document my progress with my photoblog. I am glad that I made that resolution, because taking more photos has helped me to see the beauty in even the ordinary, everyday objects of our lives. Photography helps me to see the good in everything, and I am a much happier person because of it. My resolution for this year? To have my camera in my hands each and every day! Cheers!

I, too, don't believe in resolutions. I set goals. Sometimes they occur on Jan. 1, or thereabout. Sometimes in March. Sometimes in July etc. This year, they happen to be right around New Year's. I have to get going on these goals and stop wasting so much time in other ways!

A great image here, too, Laurie. I hope your holiday season went well. Here's to a good 2008.

Every day is just another day, same chances, risks, opportunities...but we live life so fast that at the end of the year it is good to look back at the good and bad times, and look forward, to think about what changes to make, what happened to all those things we were going to do and never got round to it.

One of the good things is to be able to see the creative spirit of fellow human beings, to see how they see the world and to learn a little of their lives. It is also a pleasure to aspire to publish a picture that may be considered worth looking at by someone else.

Time is precious, thank you for spending some of yours on visiting and as always publishing excellent works of art.

Happy New Year and good luck to you and your family.
