Lime and Cranberries

previous / next

I have been busy playing lately. I've been experimenting with some DIY photography tools such as lightboxes and snoots and such. I've been learning a lot with them and it's been pretty fun playing. I still have a lot to learn though! I will be posting some of the shots here and at Parallel Universe over the coming days/weeks. What better time of year to play with such things?

This is a macro of a slice of lime and several frozen cranberries floating in white cranberry juice...Mmmmm...refreshing! As an adult cocktail you can add 2 shots of Grey Goose Vodka, 1 shot of Cointreau, a generous splash of white cranberry juice, and ice in a shaker. Shake until chilled and pour over the lime and 3 frozen cranberries in a Martini glass and It makes a tasty and festive White Cosmopolitan...but be careful they are pretty potent! This one was a virgin one with no alcohol just the cranberry juice, lime, and cranberries. I was using it as a model in the lightbox.

Well, Laurie, that sure does look tasty and it sounds great! I'll have to give that drink a try. Both versions sound good, with or without the alcohol.

Very cool shot, Laurie. It's nice to see some color since it's been so drab and gray outside lately. At what point after you shot this did you add the alcohol? :) Looks tasty.

@Russ...LOL...being that I shot this at around 11 AM...I drank it in it's virgin state.

It was tasty and refreshing too. Although if anyone saw me drinking it from the Martini glass at that hour it would have raised a few eyebrows...lucky I had no visitors yesterday!

I may just partake of one tonight after orchestra rehearsal. :)

Interesting snap and great colors. I've always found food photography to be very tough.

Laurie... Very impressive image of the lime and cranberries. The macro detail, colors and light are excellent. You said it was captured in your lightbox. Definitely a WOW shot.

Sounds like an odd combination of flavors, but it certainly makes for a beautiful image.

Beautiful; the lime peel is nice and sharp. My only (very minor!) complaint is that the exposure is a touch dark. Being a macro shooter myself, I know that happens all too often.

Love your blog!

Like the way you composed this shot Laurie. You did a nice job with your macro shot. One of these days I hope to do some playing around with macro shots, I find them fascinating. Beautiful image.
