Apples and Bananas
previous / nextA healthy snack for anyone!
This was shot in my dining room with my new studio lights. I'm in the process of trying to set up a small studio in the house. I have been busily dragging a studio around with me the last few weeks in order to work on some projects...oh my poor back! It's been really interesting, fun, a little frustrating at times, and definitely a learning experience.
I now have a total of 3 studio strobes with a variety of umbrellas and a moderate sized softbox. In addition to my small speedlights which I use off camera for small jobs or tight spaces. It's been fun learning how to use them all. I learn more and more every time I use them.
I went for a shadow-less look for this one and I managed to get it pretty easily. I would have done this in color but the fruit wasn't all that pretty hence the black and white.
I have been working on some various types and styles of portrait lighting using my family as victims, ummm, errr, I mean subjects. They have been completely willing of course...NOT!

Very cool B&W.
Beautiful high key image, Laurie. Congrats on your new studio strobes. It sounds very exciting. I can't wait to see more of your studio shots.
Now that is a unique view of the everyday. I really like this.

sounds exciting with the studio set-up you are getting into
The lovely lighting was the first thing I noticed when I looked at this photo. Very well done! Congratulations on acquuiring and learning to use your studio equipment. Sounds daunting to me.
This is so lovely in greyscale. Amazing how it totally changes the look.
Beautiful "still life" photography. i think capturing still life is a great challenge, when the subject matter seems so easily accessible, making it interesting is a real challenge. You did great job here.
Love the stark black and white.
You have become a great professional photographer.
A very elegant high key!
Nice one, and to my eye - perfect lighting!
