Jersey City Brownstone

previous / next

First I should probably mention that I know this is a bit strange looking and that is because I shot it with a fisheye lens. What a fun and tricky lens to use.

This is one of the wonderful buildings in Jersey City that has been part of the rejuvenation of this renaissance city. I just love the windows and the railings on this building. It is a nice combo of old world charm and the modern city. Jersey City is a more affordable alternative to NYC living. Many young professionals are making the move here, and not just from NYC but also from the Suburbs for the easy commute into NYC.

My husband has worked in and around Jersey City many times over the years and he has seen the city change so much during this transformation. There is still much to be done but it is definitely wonderful to see the continuing progress.

News:

This photo of the Bucknell Quad is a 2 page feature photo in the Summer 2008 issue of Bucknell Magazine.

As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos on "Parallel Universe" as I do here. It has become too complicated to maintain two different photoblogs on a regular basis. Feel free to visit "Parallel Universe" and look through the portfolio/archives since there are quite a few photos there that were never posted here. I will continue to post on both since each one gets different viewers. I will try to post a new photo every 3 days.

Check out my other Photoblog portfolio/archives:

Ooo, a building bending in a time dilation field! Is this a sign of Einstein's theory? Wink! A fun shot, and would luvvvv to live in one of these.

Have a great weekend! :)

Excellent treatment and very eyecatching.
I too love all the windows, especially the brick arched ones. Its great to hear a city revival story.

Cool! I've always wanted to have a fisheye but up until now I've never gotten around to it. Hope to see some more shots on your site.

This house probably ate too much...
Nice city, and probably nice place to live. Last time you posted something about Jersey, I thought it was Jersey island, in the Channel islands between UK and France... I am sorry to be so stupid !

A nice bet in the point, in a dynamism, a big angle for better appreciated group. Colours very unassuming...

Love the fish eye Laurie, one of the funest lenses out there. Love Jersey, always wondered why the New Yorkers look down on Jersey. It is a Surburb as far as we are concerned :)
