Liberty Harbor Marina
previous / nextMany people may not realize this but there are marinas located in Jersey City. I know of 2. This one is located near the city proper.
The photo is of the sign on the odd little guard shack. I really wanted a fisheye photo of it for this series so I accepted the sun's not quite so convenient position and accepted the lens flare such as it is. It doesn't really bother me now that I look at it.

As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos on "Parallel Universe" as I do here. It has become too complicated to maintain two different photoblogs on a regular basis. Feel free to visit "Parallel Universe" and look through the portfolio/archives since there are quite a few photos there that were never posted here. I will continue to post on both since each one gets different viewers.

Love this effect and the flare makes it pretty!
cool shot, the barrel distortion is just EXTREME but it works well with the circular sign, nice work.

What a beautiful effect ! I just realize : Jersey city..is it the Bruce Springsteen city?..Perhaps..(i love this singer since i'm forteen)
flare from the sun didn't turn out bad, in fact, the shot benefited from it.. :) great shot! :D
I like the sun burst effect. Beautiful blues and grays.
the lens flare seems to fit right in with the lines of the sails.
Nice one! I like the way this one turned out with the fisheye - flare and all!
I think the flare is just fine! And the fisheye is really nice here.Makes the sign come out even better!
Sure is news to me to hear that there are marinas in Jersey City! Love your point of view..and the simplicity of the image.
You can take a shot of me after dinner holding my plate for a similar shot.
I'm really starting to dig the whole fisheye thing. I may have to get one now. I also LOVE the lens flare. What's wrong with lens flare now and then?
If a thousand people took this shot before you, you have the only interesting one. Really nice!
Wow I like the fisheye for this shot. IT really makes the sign stand out more IMO. Nice!
waow...nice angle and beautiful fisheye // Regards from Yogyakarta Indonesia //
Impressive and well done! Fish eyes images are often very interesting!
I give you here my new adress http://www.perhapstodream.com/
Laurie, this is a creative shot. I really like both the fisheye and flare. They definitely add drama to the picture.
It's really fun with this fisheye effect. The colors are great !
Worked really well, I like the effect a lot. I would love to work a fisheye lens.
Plenty of good warp-age.
