Light Rail
One major improvement that has really made a difference in Jersey City is the Light Rail System. It was opened to the public in the spring of 2000.
Hudson-Bergen Light Rail offers service from North and South Hudson County into the downtown Jersey City waterfront and Hoboken. The light rail trains provide transpoprtation for residents and employees, throughout Bayonne, Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken, Union City, West New York and North Bergen. It also serves as transportation to business and shopping centers including Exchange Place, Newport Centre and Hoboken. It will also connect passengers to other transit alternatives such as NJ TRANSIT buses and trains, the NY Waterway ferry, and PATH trains to New York City.

As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos on "Parallel Universe" as I do here. It has become too complicated to maintain two different photoblogs on a regular basis. Feel free to visit "Parallel Universe" and look through the portfolio/archives since there are quite a few photos there that were never posted here. I will continue to post on both since each one gets different viewers.

I love to see the inner workings of cities.
Light rail sure helps the downtown areas stay in business. The major metro that goes to downtown Sacramento is the best way to fight commute time traffic and dealing with parking.
Neat shot, Laurie. And congrats on the published photo in the magazine. It looks great!
Dallas has a similar light rail system, it's saves $ on gasoline.
I said "Jersey City" the minute I saw this capture. great work. I looked at 2 captures already. you make landscapes look extremely interesting.
I'll assume, if you were on the tracks, you got off in time! Good image. I've wanted to shoot some train images for a while and I like how this one came out.
