Fisheye Football

previous / next

This is a high school football game I stumbled upon on my way out of the city after shooting all the photos in the Jersey City series. I had to stand on a block that just happened to be there and shoot through an iron railing. This was the best perspective I could get in among the people that were standing along the railing with me. I have to say that I thought it was a great way to end the day and the series.

This is the final shot in the Jersey City series. I know it was a very long series. I pre-posted all of the shots in this series because September and October tend to be very busy months for me. I have a lot of shots that I've taken over the period of time that this series ran and it will be interesting to pick out which ones to post as the backlog of images grows and grows.

News:

This photo of the Bucknell Quad is a 2 page feature photo in the Summer 2008 issue of Bucknell Magazine.

As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos on "Parallel Universe" as I do here. It has become too complicated to maintain two different photoblogs on a regular basis. Feel free to visit "Parallel Universe" and look through the portfolio/archives since there are quite a few photos there that were never posted here. I will continue to post on both since each one gets different viewers.

Check out my other Photoblog portfolio/archives:

Enjoyed the Jersey city series, Laurie, well done. That fisheye lens is really something. Cool perspective for a football game.

Really great photo. Not being a football fan I LOVE the cityscape in the background!

An interesting and very eye-catching photo. I know a football field is rectangular so this warped view gets my attention immediately. A fine way to end your series.

The fisheye curve does make the shot very interesting to look at.

Isn't it nice to have a backlog to choose from? I have thoughly enjoyed the Jersey series and I love the small town local atmosphere of the football game. The fisheye works well.

Stop it with those beautiful skies already! Geez! Each one seems even better than the previous one! :) I like how these guys are lined up and the curve in the image makes it an even wider angle. Nice work!

That is a fantastic image for a sports shot -- one not seen often, that's for sure. I really like the perspective and the thought. Nice work.

Cool shot. Maybe I'd like football better if it were played on a round field like this. :)
