Salt Marsh

previous / next

Shot the same day as the previous Sandy Hook photos. Sandy Hook is a really beautiful place especially when the summer crowds have gone. There are no amusement rides on boardwalks, games of chance, arcades, or fancy hotels, or rental houses. There is one Restaurant/Bar at the South end and a few snack bars here and there but that is about it.

What Sandy Hook does have is some pretty pristine areas for hiking, biking, roller-blading, and exploring. Beautiful beaches for swimming, water sports, and lots of fishing. There are some interesting historical points of interest including Sandy Hook lighthouse and Ft. Hancock and the North end along with views of NY. Oh and of course there is the nude beach...no I don't go there, at least not on purpose, although I did accidentally stumble upon it one very chilly early April day...and yes there were people in the buff on the beach even though I needed my ear warmers, gloves, and winter coat.

I will be away for a few days on assignment so I might not be able to respond to comments. I do have some photos cued up for posting while I am away.

As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos on "Parallel Universe" as I do here. It has become too complicated to maintain two different photoblogs on a regular basis. Feel free to visit "Parallel Universe" and look through the portfolio/archives since there are quite a few photos there that were never posted here. I will continue to post on both since each one gets different viewers. I have also changed the title of Parallel Universe to Capture This Photography 2.

Check out my other Photoblog portfolio/archives:

Love the smooth DOF of the water in the background. The details on the grass are very nicely composed too!

A beautiful wetlands-looking place. Your description of this area sounds very attractive. We need more places without too many commercial inroads. Nice work.

Love the pick tint to the marshy waters. this looks like a beautiful place to hike and just relax. The beach in the buff in the cold doesn't sound like fun to me either.
Have a good trip and look forward to your return.
