Pink Croc

previous / next

This was also shot at the Rutgers Gardens. As soon as I got out of the car I noticed this pink Croc on the fence next to my car. I have always wondered how one loses such things. I know that babies often discard their shoes and it can go unnoticed but this was not a baby's shoe, it looked like it belonged to a young child but definitely not a baby or toddler.

I do know how a college student loses shoes though! Russell told me the story of how he and some friends were walking in New Brunswick and one of them was kicking something on the sidewalk and his shoe went flying over a fence and into a construction pit where he could not retrieve it. Silly college students! So at least now I have an answer to one of the mysteries of life!

As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos on "Parallel Universe" as I do here. It has become too complicated to maintain two different photoblogs on a regular basis. Feel free to visit "Parallel Universe" and look through the portfolio/archives since there are quite a few photos there that were never posted here. I will continue to post on both since each one gets different viewers. I have also changed the title of Parallel Universe to Capture This Photography 2.

Check out my other Photoblog portfolio/archives:

but that leaves the question what happened to the other? the shoe also looks like it was a little loved, with the non standard heal strap.... something for me to wonder on as i travel to work.. ;o)

Whatever happened with the other, this is an amazing photo. Love the DOF and the contrast between the pink and green colors in the background.

Nicely spotted! The pink really brightens this one up. I love the way this piece softens as your eyes move to the left!

Love the pink focal point to this shot. How does one explain to their parents that they only have one shoe? Perhaps she was kicking too.

LOL @ picture. Unbelievable how you can lose something like this..especially the way it's positioned here. Maybe it was from a sheep that jumped over the fence? ;)

Nice how you've captured this with the dof btw...

A picture is where you find it. You had a good eye working for you when you spotted this shoe. Nice shot.

Hey Laurie, this is *superb*. I love your processing, the complementary colours are exquisite, the subject matter's cute, and I dig the scratchy details on the fencepost. Very cool :)

Another nice simple shot... but I really like how you've used the depth of field to focus even more on the shoe.

A typical case when colour adds to a composition, I love it! I like the muted green and the shallow dof also.
