Thanksgiving Thoughts

previous / next

I often go for walks in the park to take photos but also to clear my head and reflect on the things in my life that are most precious to me. Among the things I am most Thankful for are of course my children, my husband, our health. I am Thankful for our security in a nation where we enjoy so many freedoms, freedoms that are easily taken for granted until they are gone.

Despite the struggles we face today, there is still much to be Thankful for. I hope that we do not lose sight of, or ever take them for granted. Taking our freedoms and liberties for granted are the quickest way to lose them. So remember them, be thankful for them, and never take them for granted because when they are gone it is too late. I wish for all the world to enjoy the same freedoms and liberties that we have. I hope that we will preserve those freedoms for our children and our children's children.

I also would be remiss if I didn't express my thanks to all of you who visit and or take the time to comment on my images. I am very honored by your visits and wonderful comments.

So here is wishing everyone who will be celebrating a very Happy, Healthy, and Thankful Thanksgiving.

As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos on "Parallel Universe" as I do here. It has become too complicated to maintain two different photoblogs on a regular basis. Feel free to visit "Parallel Universe" and look through the portfolio/archives since there are quite a few photos there that were never posted here. I will continue to post on both since each one gets different viewers. I have also changed the title of Parallel Universe to Capture This Photography 2.

Check out my other Photoblog portfolio/archives:

Nice words of gratitude that goes well with a photo that offers an opportunity for contemplation.
To us, the photo says: It's over. Nicely done.

A fine bench and ideal place to sit and think it all through. We all need to take time to "think" about our lives and what matters most. Fine comment on "thankfulness." Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

There is so much to be thankful for. I'm especially thankful for my family, husband, friends, the wonderful home we live in now and the freedoms we have in the United States. We may be tattered and bruised but its still the best place to be. I pray that we don't loose sight of how our Nation was created and what it stands for.
Have a Blessed Thanksgiving Laurie.
Thanks for letting me sit on this lovely bench in such a great setting and share my feelings with you.

Very nice! Did you increase the DOF even more in your post processing? This bench stands out so beautifully!

@Arjan...Thanks. No I did not do anything more than slight curves adjustments in post processing. The shallow DOF is from that awesome little lens.

This picture is, quite simply, three-dimensional.

My favorite camera - the D700 - and my favorite lens - the Nikkor 85/1.8. Happy sigh.

When I move up to full-frame, that's where I'm headed. What a joy to see it in the hands of someone who knows how to capture the essence of a moment.

A gorgeous spot to sit and think. Another nice autumn image. But, Laurie, I feel that perhaps I'm chasing someone. First we had the abandoned wheelbarrow, now this empty bench. :-) Can't wait for the next image.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

walks in these parks really calm the senses.. the first thing i noticed is how the bench looks like it's out of balance.. and then the shallow depth of field.. excellent shot.. :)
