Little Carolers

previous / next

This is another shot from Peddler's Village taken the same day as the previous shots. There are lots of vendors out serving all sorts of goodies all over the Village, including hot cider cooked in iron pots over open fires. It is a wonderful place any time of year but it is especially wonderful this time of year.

This was shot at ISO 6400 in extremely low light. Even under these conditions the D700 produces a pretty decent image although a bit softer than the previous ISO 6400 shot.

I have a Seasonal theme going, as if you haven't already figured that out! I hope to be able to continue the theme throughout the month all the way to New Year's Eve.

Camera Settings:
NIKON D700
Nikkor 28-70mm f2.8
1/100 second
F/2.8
ISO 6400
56 mm

As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos on "Parallel Universe" as I do here. It has become too complicated to maintain two different photoblogs on a regular basis. Feel free to visit "Parallel Universe" and look through the portfolio/archives since there are quite a few photos there that were never posted here. I will continue to post on both since each one gets different viewers. I have also changed the title of Parallel Universe to Capture This Photography 2.

Check out my other Photoblog portfolio/archives:

Well, a shot in this perfection was impossible in good ol' film days - the spectators would have been blurry when using a tripod and long exposure.
The warm light and the spot on the singers is very nice here - perfectly transports that cozy christmas time feeling.

This is a very strong street image. The camera is doing a fabulous job given those difficult conditions.
I especially like the added faces, out of focus, repeated the two closer faces. Very nice shot.

Your D700 really does a wonderful job in this demanding situation. Beautiful capture of the light, color and detail. And your crop is excellent. I'm just about ready to make the move to full frame.

This is a very nice image indeed, but I'm really amazed at the quality at this ISO setting. Having this good an image in low light could really broaden one's horizons. Really well done.

Excellent Laurie. I see that your site, like many other ones, is season dependent and this is a nice Xmas-time picture. Unfortunately my site does not know seasons? I will try to correct this for next year.
Cheers

This is incredible for a ISO6400 shot... I've been a long time user of the Canon 5D - and love the images it produces -- but the more I see from the D700, the more I want one. I started out shooting Nikon cameras about a million years ago -- Nikon has done such a wonderful job with their new DSLR's --

Nice image!
