Posted Warnings
previous / nextThis property owner makes his point pretty clear. The interesting thing here is that he doesn't own the utility pole where he posted these warnings...kind of ironic. This was shot on Saturday in Millford NJ just next to the bridge.
ETA...I just want to clarify some things about this post. I do not have any issue with people protecting their properties and privacy. I only posted this for the irony of it. Also this is not anyone's home. It is an old abandoned mill that was most recently used as a shop/studio for artists and craftspeople. From what a local resident told me it had been sold and the buyer wanted to "flip" the property, sell to a developer for lots of money to be torn down and have high priced luxury waterfront townhouses built along the River. The locals wanted to stop the development and have the old empty Mill preserved as an historic landmark...I believe the town was originally named for the old mill. That is what one local resident told me about the old property and from the sounds of it the owner was really unhappy with the residents for stopping the development. Now the old stone mill stands empty and falling into serious decay. It is sad to see this once beautiful building in such shape.

As of July 2008 I have decided to post the same photos on "Parallel Universe" as I do here. It has become too complicated to maintain two different photoblogs on a regular basis. Feel free to visit "Parallel Universe" and look through the portfolio/archives since there are quite a few photos there that were never posted here. I will continue to post on both since each one gets different viewers. I have also changed the title of Parallel Universe to Capture This Photography 2.

perhaps it is also forbidden,... to breathe!
Probably illegal to post signs on that pole.
Wonderful focus and composition!
lol, not a very friendly person, i take. o_O
Reminds me of Woody Guthrie's less known verse from "This Land is Your Land."
As I went walking I saw a sign there
And on the sign it said "No Trespassing."
But on the other side it didn't say nothing,
That side was made for you and me.
Fun shot. Shallow DOF adds to the feeling.
A nice "find" to spot these signs and get this shot.
A university's convention mansion is across the street from me and the woodsy grounds as always targeted by dog owners. Multiple signs, like the top one, abound! :-)
What a welcoming place!
Those are a lot of "no"s! But we all have our own worlds and want to control them! Excellent focus and details in the composition.
Ha funny shot. What can you do in front of that house? I am just glad there was no sign that said "do not take photos of this pole" :)
Thanks for stopping by recently. I'm glad I was missed ;)
I'm planning on posting more this month...leading up to my big day ;)
Not very hospitable...
Maybe just a person scared about the world and people... behind distance there's always a fragility.
Nice shot Laurie! (-;
Clarence and I normally take photos of the signs like this as we are leaving and tired of shooting the property.
Not very hospitable Laurie :))
Nice shot!!
Have a nice day.

Like you said: how ironic!! They really don't make you feel welcome.
Very ironic. Its too bad that the property is now in decay a no win situation it seems.
I love the colors on this one. Nice shot! I agree, ironic in a way.
Pretty funny. Well, at least there's not a 'no photography' sign :)
What an effective way to get your point across :)
well said.. and it is indeed ironic.. but it's a sad thing for this property to slowly stagnate.. nice shot.. :)
I like how the weeds are standing tall with the pole and signs.... as if to support the cause and yet also saying, nature will eventually outlive all the humans involved.
PS: The signs are probably posted for insurance reasons...
Like the shot - but it is a not welcome place ;-)
nice sign
