Abandoned Mural
previous / nextThis is from the Deserted Village taken the same day as the previous shot. I shot through the window of one of the dilapidated structures. The porch, or rather what little was left of it, was fenced off and the building boarded up except for the windows.
Mark spotted this mural as I was wandering around the other side of the old structure. I had to shoot at an odd angle to get he mural from as close as I could get to the house. I don't know when this house was last inhabited. It is interesting to ponder when this mural was done and who the artist was...

nice. feels very old. and quiet.
Wow, that's great! Layers of reality. I like the out of focus foreground with the reflection on that piece of glass in the window frame.
fantastically well composed...

Nice framing with the window, and a green window for even extra interest. Interesting about the mural, too. It does look rather old.
Fabulous image!! Love how you are "looking through" not only the window but through time as well.
WOW!!
Beautiful image, precious for the subject and technically perfect.
...every step more intresting and misterious... (-: this mural remember me the one in Pompei or in the Roman Forum in Rome...it is so fascinating... they always tells stories... Beautiful shot!
This makes a very appealing image. The shot is so inviting...makes one want to check it out in person. Nice shot.
Nice shot Laurie, I like the framing. It reall does make you wonder about the old inhabitants
Una imagen muy original.
Me encanta tu photoblog.
love your framing. great shot of the mural. at least you get to preserve it here. :)
LOL. It took me a minute to realize that was glass in the window causing a reflection and not a ghost moving around inside. Neat shot!
Its like looking through a window on the past. Really cool!
This is prob some of the nicest bokeh i've seen, its a gorgeous shot.

Wow, Laurie - this is an amazing shot. The colors are awesome!
Very nice 3-d feeling to this photo. I was in North Carolina this week and on the 1 hour drive back to the airport we drove past a dozen or so very old overgrown houses in various stages of decay, some abandoned, and some ... well apparently still being lived in, a photographer's dream. Unfortunately I knew my coworkers don't share my enthusiasm about such things, so I kept driving.
Nice creative choice of point of view. I really like the color tones here and the textures here as well.
Wonderful composition. It just draws you in and in and in! Fantastic.
Great catch Mark! This is a wonderful shot whose subject may not last much longer. I really am wonderful what colorful people must have llived here. Nice!

love the framing...so great

great composition, like window framing and DOF ...
Wow this is a really striking image! I love that the piece of glass looks almost liquid! And the focus is wonderful as well!
For whatever reason, the painting reminds me of something you might see in ancient Egypt. I guess that it has to do with the colors used and the aging process. Very nice!
Interesting view :D
Great composition and a very odd but beautiful mural. I sure wonder what the story behind it is.
Glad you discovered it.
Hi Laurie
Amazing composition and masterful light control!
Bravo à toi!
A splendid capture. I like it a lot;
