Fragile

previous / next

This is something I found in the barn from the previous post. This is exactly as I found it, exactly how I first saw it. It made me sad to look at those pleading eyes looking up at me. I was reminded of the children's story of the 'Velveteen Rabbit' and this quote:

"...once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

what a wonderful pic... I love to find odd discarded stuff like this... it hints at a history, we can only guess at... this little teddy must have had a lot of love at one time, but what happened?....

What a super quote! And this scene does indeed have something sad about it. Makes you wonder what happend the minutes or hours just prior to all these items being left here this way. Cool picture - it makes me thinks and that's always a good thing!

This makes a fine still-life image. I like how many things there are to see in the image. Well done.

it's a little bit sad indeed. and i rather think "fragile" more as a lack of affect here ...

Poor little thing! It is really sad, I wonder where's the kid who once owned it. Very nice composition and lights btw.

There is much that can read out of this thought provoking photo, most of it not pleasant. IMO a photo that makes you sit back and think what may have happened is a great photo. Well captured and presented.

Humans do not have a rabbit doll help. because people do not have a sense of concern with the puppet rabbit. Foto with good imagination // Regars from Yogyakarta City, Indonesia.

I honestly think that what happened here was nothing really tragic but rather just a matter of the child outgrowing his or her toys and this is where they were discarded.

There was an empty house across the street and it looked like a lot of what had once been in the house had been stored or discarded here when the people left. There had probably been an old bag or box of once cherished stuffed toys and whatnot that was in the old barn and the contents were somehow strewn around the barn over time and that is probably how the little Teddy Bear came to be there.

This scene spoke to me of how fast childhood passes and how this once loved toy was discarded like so much trash when the child outgrew it. That thought evoked a bittersweet feeling in my heart much like when I stumble across the bag of my kids' old stuffed toys in the attic space. I always get a little sad thinking how fleeting their childhood was now that they are moving into their adult years. This discarded Teddy Bear reminded me of that and the story of the 'Velveteen Rabbit'.

Its always amazing what you can find lying around somewhere. I made a full photo-blog out of it. Sometimes you really wonder "how did this get here? who brought it here? and what for?"

This almost looks like a still life. A rather bleak still life, but with the assortment of objects and the way they are arranged, it looks like a gritty take on the theme.
