Silk Flowers and Rough Edges

previous / next

Like the previous shot, this is another find from inside the abandoned this abandoned barn. It looked like these silk flowers were growing up out of the detritus on the floor.

Camera Settings:
NIKON D700
Nikkor 28-70mm f2.8
1/100 second
F/2.8
ISO 3200
60 mm

***Special Note***

I've gotten a couple of notes from people telling me their attempts to leave comments here have been rejected...If this is happening to you and you really would like to leave a comment, feel free to try leaving one on this post on my alternate site here until whatever the problem is gets worked out. I think it is something on Blogger's end and not anything with my settings and it seems to be occurring rather randomly. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

Great contrast. The red rust takes up the colour of the silk flowers. A catching and "poetic" capture.

Beautiful shot. I love how the silk flower has a strong, saturated color, while all else is muted.

intresting shot Laurie... this shot shows a sense of decadence, but at the same time, flowers gives a bit of life to everything...

What a great find. The eye instantly goes to the flowers but there's so much more there to explore. Very nice shot and you've gotta love that D700 for this level of quality at ISO 3200.

Love the colors and contrasting textures. Altho you say they're silk...there's something about them that look very real. Wonderfully composed!

Wow! That is wonderful - the orange silk against the rusty metal. It couldn't get any better! (Just be careful going in those old places!!)

I think this is the proof that you can find beauty even in the most unexpected places. I love how these blue and orange colors are balanced in the photo.

I always wondered where silk flowers came from. The shot does have a great contrast because of them. My favorite thing though, is your use of 'detritus' in a blog. Great job!
