I Heart You
previous / nextHappy Valentines Day
Mark, I love you! You always have my heart.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't normally post photos from work I've done for clients but being that today is Valentines Day and this has a heart theme I decided to post it...I'm sure Holly won't mind.
Holly is the owner/creator of G 2 G Gems Fine Handmade Jewelry. She is also a very dear friend who just happens to also be my next door neighbor. The jewelry she makes is stunning, well made, and is made from her heart. The photos I've done for her are for use on her new website which is still under construction. When it goes online I will post a link to it. The above photo is one of our favorites.
This was actually a tough one. The biggest "problem" was that with a white or light background, the glass tends to nearly disappear and with a black or dark background the bracelet tends to disappear. I didn't have a gradient background but with some effort the shading created a slight gradient from gray to nearly white which worked out well. The other problem was getting it to sparkle without getting too much glare on the glass...not easy, in fact it was nearly impossible, so I had to compromise a bit. We both liked the idea of this one so much that we were determined to make this one work and so with some trial and error I got this result which I think works pretty well.
This was shot in my "old" studio light shed which I had set up in my dining room, not the new one from the previous post. I think I will re-shoot it for her to try to get an even better result...if I can just get that bracelet to sit in that heart shape on the glass again. You have no idea how hard that really is. The first time it was a "happy accident" and I've not been able to get it to sit on the glass in such a perfect heart shape since. I am determined though, and I refuse to give up!!!
great job with this product shot, I know how difficult it is with such reflective objects
That is some excellent work! Love how the red pops out this image!
Simplicity is the secret with product photography. Don't want to distract from the product (unless the product isn't very interesting). A nice simple shot of a quality product. Well done.
Very nice. Perfect for the day :)
Very nice composition ! I like colors and light !
This is professional stuff!
Perfect!
No need to re-shoot...
Happy Valentine's Day !
Beautiful work! :)
I really love your Valentine's post! (-: Your idea is so original, and I like so much this intense red of the bracelet...
Love-ly! ;-)
Beautiful work on this perfect image. (I bet he liked that!)
Perfect Valentines Day photo! Nice work!
Interesting work, but know you should reshoot this for her as you will get better results with your new set up. Not a fan of this shot cause we know now you could and will shoot it better.
Cool image but I thinks this would look really really cool if you had a black background. It would really bring out the red!
@Terry...I actually did several with a black background and it was just too dark and the bracelet gets lost in it. It is very dramatic but it doesn't show enough of the detail in the bracelet. My client did not like it for her site and I was in complete agreement with her.
If you would like to see the example look here.
i think you did a fantastic job on this one Laurie. the gradient works very well, and the lighting looks awesome.
It's like an advertisement photo!
