Balic Winery
previous / nextThis was shot on Sunday at the Balic Winery Booth at the NJ Home show. It was a little too early to do any wine tasting but the bottles sure looked pretty. The home show was pretty quiet from what I could see but with economic times being what they are I was not surprised.

An observation and a small vent. Music on websites...drives me nuts!!! Let me explain. I listen to my iTunes when I am working and browsing blogs. I like my music, I like all sorts of music. from the classical to rock to pop to standards. Now I don't mind that people want to share their music with me on their sites...but...I am driven crazy when it automatically runs when the page opens. It competes with my iTunes and usually ends up sounding like a mess when mixed with what I am already playing. Add that to the fact that I usually open 20 blogs in tabs, several of which have music embedded and it REALLY makes a terrible racket and drives me to turn my sound off all together until I can locate the offending site(s). I don't mind that people want music on their sites...but is there a way to make it so that it does not automatically start when the page opens..It is driving me insane...lol...not really but it is annoying.

it's well captured Laurie :)
it feels just a tad oversharpened though
very well composed, love how it goes to blurry with the shallow dof
You have all my understanding. Alle next elections I ballot for you!
Great looking wines...too bad you were not able to taste...
This is one of the most beautiful product shots i've seen lately Laurie. Composition, bokeh and use of DOF are just perfect. I've been looking at it over and over again.
Your photos might be the reason for me to start saving for this 24-70 lens.
@drAjao..no sharpening was done...it was in a very large convention center with lots of overhead lights. These convention centers really tend to make shiny reflective surfaces sparkle. The sparkle of the bottles is what caught my eye at this booth.
Cool. The dof is pretty awesome on this and I love the smudgy outlines of the other bottles. Nice blacks as well :-)
Lovely shot! I love this romantic halo around the bottles.
A fine close up of these attractive wine bottles. I like the careful range of focus and the detail provided. Excellent image.
Pak Karamu visiting you
I love the photo and I have to say . . .
. . . I am with you on the noise form some websites/blogs. I often just jump right out of those sites.
Bonsoir,
Well done composition and DOF..Bravo!
cool shot, they are great, wines and photo ;)
I like a good glass of wine and this picture too ;)
You must have a nice party there!
I'm listening often my I tunes too, when i'm blogging... So I understand well what you say. :-))
Wow looks very refreshing! What a great product shot.
I really like the composition, but I would have liked to see more detail in such a product shot, and not such a shallow depth of field.
@Claus...Thanks...technically it isn't a product shot..it was purely artistic. If it were a product shot it would have been shot with controlled lighting and probably in my studio.
I was at a home show at a large convention center. It was mostly building contractors, Kitchen designers, siding and roofing contractors, landscapers, plumbing and heating contractors, and for some odd reason some random vendors like this wine booth, a gourmet pet food booth, and even a caterer had a booth there. It was kind of an odd combination of vendors.
beautiful shot, and pp
ya, the music automatically playing on webpages sure is annoying...
Wine from California? This is a beautiful picture with very nice bokeh and atmosphere.
@Olivier...Thanks. Actually it is from Mays Landing New Jersey. :D
beautiful still life
especially with items that are deemed luxuries, no doubt people would chimp out on them.. i like how you captured this one though.. nice shot! :D
I like pcd...I am jealous for this iso!!! I have do not know this wine; part against I like to drink some good wine with friends.
Hi Laurie
Great compo! Good to share with friends :)
absolutely gorgeous shot ...
I like the way you grabbed the Balic mark, and the blurred colors all around!
ah ah .. magnifique lumière sur ces bouteilles de très bon vin ..à votre santé dans la chaude couleur de ce nectar des dieux !!
A beautiful shot! But really - too early for wine? Must of been the right time somewhere. :-)
'Holiday wine'... then everyday should be a holiday :)
Very nice use of Orton - very cool!
Awesome product shot, Laurie. I guess I still have a lot to learn :)
