@TP@Photoskiasi...You are right, they are very clean...too clean. They are brand new and they have yet to meet the soil, and they won't today since it is a rainy day, but soon, very soon!

Wonderful - the colors are so refreshing (and I love the shadows too). Your gardening things are much cleaner than mine - in fact, your's don't even look used!

Your garden might be a mess, but your tools are certainly not.
Getting metals right is not easy, but you nailed it. The image looks quite processed (not over-processed). Is this a new style?

Love your comfy gardening slippers and the Poland Springs water. I always looked forward to the taste of that water when we worked in NYC.

@FRamed and Shot...thanks. Not really that much processing was done to this shot. Processing was done in Lightroom in less than 5 minutes. I've started relying more on Lightroom for post processing in recent weeks. I had always preferred doing only white balance and exposure, basic RAW conversion stuff, in Lightroom only and then bringing photos into Photoshop for doing curves and I still do quite often when I want to do specific local curves adjustments, but this one was done in Lightroom.

This was shot using flash and high speed synch in my light tent. In Lightroom I did Basic adjustments for the RAW file. I cooled the White Balance slightly from "as shot", and did some slight exposure adjustments. I increased the exposure slightly to enhance the effect of the high speed synch which concentrates the flash to a smaller area of the photo.

Then I did curves, color balance, and some tone control. I slightly enhanced the vignette that was there as a result of the high-speed synch flash. Again all this was done in Lightroom and took less than 5 minutes. That is pretty much it.

As for this "look", I was a huge fan of some country home style magazines back in the 1980's and early 90's and I was trying to recreate that warm rich rustic style that I remembered from those magazines. This was what inspired me to go in this direction for some of my recent work.

I have created some preset actions for this look so that I can pretty much do all of this with one click. I am learning to appreciate all that you can do in Lightroom.

I enjoyed reading the description of your processing procedures. As to the picture - it's a beautiful still life, expertly arranged and very attractive. It also shows the garden equipment in this pristine conditon for perhaps the last time this summer! ;-) Maybe you should use others and keep these in mint shape for future pictures.

your gardens are a mess you say... well, that might be the reason why all these tools still look so new and shiny! :)

A very nice still life. It's not an easy genre of photo to do well, but I like this. (My only critique is that there is something in the colours that looks slightly off, like the white balance is really close but off just a bit...)

@Jim...Thanks. Actually these colors are pretty much spot on. I can hold each of these items up to my (calibrated) screen and they are just about a perfect match. :)
