Frog

previous / next

Another critter in the mini-series.

This frog was shot in a marshy wooded area next to the D&R Canal in Princeton. He was tiny and well hidden. I had to shoot through tall grass, shrubs, and reeds to get him...or her.

We have a small pond in our back yard and the frogs are out in full force. The one that I saw the other day looked very dirty and muddy and I thing that it must just have come out of hibernation.

Beautiful composition and color. I'm not sure about this black area on top.

Nice how you managed to capture that 'peek through the branches' feeling here! And the spotlight seems to be right on that frog! :)

Thanks all...This little guy was down a little bank in what I can only describe as a flooded marshy place in a very wooded area. It was like he found the only spot of sun in the dense thicket. I did not think I would get any sort of usable shot of him at all. I shot this and hoped for the best. It was very overgrown where he was with scrub trees, vines, wild bushes, and brambles everywhere. He was tiny too. smaller than a small maple leaf, like the ones you can see in the water. As far as the dark area at the top...well not to be avoided under the circumstances, it is just how it was, and I saw no reason to change it. I did have to apply a crop to get in tight enough to show the detail.
