Check out my new slideshow page. The link is here and at the top and bottom of every page. I am testing out several formats for the slideshows each with their own advantages and disadvantages. It will be an evolving process and I will add new ones from time to time. I hope you will stop by and check them out and feel free to leave me some feedback.

@Tony...Thanks...I'm not sure what ship that is. If I remember right there were 2 nearly identical ships side by side and they had what appeared to be double hulls. I am not that knowledgeable in Naval ships. Perhaps someone else will enlighten me? I do think that was a shipyard for doing repairs but of that I am also unsure.

The JFK?

I don't know what it is: JFK.
But, is it a ship of the navy? The photo is nice. The photo's on my site are made on the island of AMELAND. My lovely island, Laurie.

greetings,

NANNE from FRIESLAND

@NANNE...in the USA many of our Naval vessels are named for past leaders, Presidents or military. JFK would be John F. Kennedy. One of our most beloved Presidents. This is a Navy ship. You can usually tell them from other ships pretty easily if only by their "battleship gray" color. The large number on it is also a way to tell. I have no idea what kind or "class" of ship that is but is a Naval Vessel.

Looks like an aircraft carrier to me. Flat deck, tower in the middle.

I like the simple style of the image. The title works well too. Makes you want to be able to enjoy a stroll at that age yourself some day.

@Dan...Hmmm...seems likely, but the perspective is a bit deceiving here. They always look small from across the water to me. I will look in my archives from that day and see if I got a clear shot. It was nearing midday and a bit hazy so the shots looking across were not the cleanest. Now I really want to know!!! LOL

OK...I did some research and found that it is indeed the decommissioned Carrier JFK...it is in the Philadelphia shipyard for preservation and storage.

Well that age isn't as far away as it might seem, at least for me...LOL!!!

I sent you a clearer image of the ship.

I like this type of human element where people are not readily identifiable. Love this in the moment. Excellent slideshow by the way.
