Asbury Park Casino
previous / nextThis was taken a few weeks ago in Asbury Park. There is not much left of this building which crosses the boardwalk and used to house amusements, but there seemed to be signs that it is slowly being renovated. It will be great if they can continue to bring Asbury Park back from the brink but I am sure the current economic situation is not helping any.
I've been terribly busy these past few weeks and hope to catch up with everyone soon. Thanks for your visits and comments, they really do mean a lot to me.

Love the pastel color. Hope they do bring it back, or at least keep it from falling into further decay.
casino and flea market, very cool :)
Though I hope it'll be possible be to renovate the buildings, they have a really nice and interesting appeal with these rough patterns and colors. Very nice subject.
without the people in this shot, i think it's great by itself, but having the people walking around the place gives it sort of a nice vibe.. i really like this.. nice shot! :)
Great layers here!
Love how we can see such 'layers' of light and darkness both in the building, and in the people walking in and 'out' of the frame.
Beautiful photo!
I've never been to Asbury Park, but these places use to be important as meeting and social places and a place to take the family (back when families did thing together). I like all the rectangles in this image. Reminds me of a Mondrian painting.
Great capture, Laurie. Love the textures and share your hopes for Asbury Park
I blogged about a restoration success near me this morning and I hope they can save this place, too. We throw away too much of our past. A little TLC (or maybe a lot) is worth the time and money invested.
Once a casino, now a flea market: the demise of a building :) Nice find!
i love the white frame (of structure) in the sun and the dark one in the back of the building. nice graphic work, i like it!
I like the symmetry--building, shapes, letters--and assymetry--position of people, sign-- in this image. Gives the image tension and interest. Well done.
Love the retro, unglitzy scene. Much prefer this "casino" to the Las Vegas casino scene. If they do renovate, I hope they'll maintain the historic look and feel.
Cool scene. To think a casino failed at some point... interesting on several levels.
Thanks Dan...I don't think it ever was a Casino in the gambling sense...it was filled with amusements and a large iconic Carousel in it's heyday.
Hmmm, I wonder if this is the map to building heaven? :-) Nice, unique find!
beautiful framing and details!
