After the rally we got a bite to eat in town and then went home to unload the photos. We decided on the spur of the moment to go the Macy's 4th of July fireworks on the Hudson River. We took the train to Hoboken. We got there around 4:30PM, spent the afternoon in town eating, having a couple of adult beverages, enjoying some nice conversation and company at one of the wonderful little outdoor cafe before staking out a place on the Steven's Campus on the hill overlooking the Hudson River to view the fireworks. It turned out to be a pretty good location for viewing them especially since we went very last minute. It was not nearly as crowded as the waterfront along Sinatra Drive and we found a seat on the grass on the hill which was pretty comfortable. We staked out our spot pretty late at around 7:45 PM. I got some good photos considering I wasn't really thinking we would be in a great location since we got there so late. There was a utility pole and a lamppost in our line of sight and I left my remote in my other bag...DOH! I do have a few shots I will share just the same. All I can say about the show is...WOW!!! It was spectacular.

I like how you have exposed and framed this two ladies. They look somehow satisfied. Very well spotted, Laurie.
interesting street shot, those hats are funny to my eyes
To wear those hats you MUST be patriotic ;)
Perfect pic for the holiday weekend! And I salute your son, I hate that those men and woman have to serve so many tours of duty. What a mess we've gotten ourselves into over there but what brave and selfless service people we have:)
Really nice! I've seen people like this kind of hat just in the film! So preatty!
nice candid capture.. :) yep, your view over in there in jersey was better than if viewed from manhattan.. but my vantage point was better, lounging on the sofa while watching the fireworks on tv.. lolol!
Superb fireworks pix in slideshow. Funny pic of ladies in goofy hat. Tea parties???? They scare me. A lot more than any tendency this country may have towards socialism. I wish. I'd say, Bring it on!
very well seen, interesting street shot.
beautifully executed shot Laurie :)
Nice double portrait
Nice people shot. That is a great hat.
Really nice 4th of July people photo! Looks like it was a great event!
i love the proud hats and the patriotic spirit -their trustful look- on their faces. very nice portrait!
Love those hats, sounds like a great place to have been for the holiday. Nice shot of these lovely ladies and their patriotic spirit.
We are in the States really with that picture :)
Nice pose and photo.
Beautiful. The sweet moment has been captured very nicely.
Perfect portraits.
I see you got the lens. I think is the next thing i'm gonna buy but first i'm gonna have to shell my 80-200.
Everyone in the history of country and we is July 14 where we made the revolution creates a new world on the men Libertée the right of everyone, a delay may I wish you happy good day for that the hommmes live equal.
ps la photo très bonne
Damn, Laurie. Busy, busy, busy! I hope you found time for a long drink at the end of the day?
The perfect 4th of July shot -- gotta love those hats! :-)
As for the teabaggers, one might take them more seriously if they objected to government spending as well when the Republicans held power, or called spending and bailouts "socialism" as well when the Republicans held power. I didn't hear these folks complaining (and still don't) about the trillion spent on the Iraq war.
Laurie, I love your candid shot of the 2 ladies but oh my, the slide show of the fireworks is stunning. Totally amazing. Thank you so much for sharing them.
A couple of patriotic (and colorful) ladies. You've done a nice job of capturing their intensity and the overall comp is great.
Hi Laurie
Great shot from the street, very nice framing and lovely colors, well done!
Ric
Sharp and colorful, I like it!
