previous / next (9-28-09)What a waste and a shame. Sandy Hook is the site of many protected species of shore birds. Some moron decided it would be a good idea to destroy a nest. It has been speculated by many that it was likely a fishermen. They argue that if the nests are gone then the fishermen would be allowed to fish there. I would hate to think this is true. I don't personally know of any fishermen who would stoop to such a thing. There are plenty of places to fish without fishing from restricted nesting areas.

Glad to see the NPS posting this. I hope someday we have stimulus monies to make them post these types of things more often!
