Tribute in Lights
previous / next (9-16-09)On Friday evening Mark and I met up with Mary Brooks Brown and her friend Charity at Liberty State Park to see if we could get some shots of the annual 9-11 Tribute in Lghts. It was a rainy windy nasty evening so we took a little car-tour of Jersey City and Hoboken while waiting for the rain to let up and the fog and low cloud deck to lift a little before heading back to Liberty State Park to get the shots of the Tribute in Lights.
It was super to finally meet Mary and her friend Charity. They made a long trip to come see the lights and I was very worried that they would be disappointed because of the nasty weather. But when the cloud deck lifted a bit we witnessed a very eerily beautiful sight. The memorial is breathtaking and touching and the wind whistling through the buildings made the sound of anguished wailing in the night.

i admire your dedication to get this shot.. my friend (who is also a photo enthusiast) wasn't able to capture this event because of the weather.. this looks really beautiful.. great work.. :)
@Rian...Thanks. My dedication was nothing compared to Mary's...she drove a couple of hours to get here, and then a couple of hours home. It was late, after 10PM when we left, and the rain really picked up as we left.
I didn't realize this was done. Worth waiting for, it's a remarkable image.
Very appropriate.
