Fishing on the Canal

previous / next (7-15-10)

It has been boiling HOT this past week, sweltering and in general pretty miserable to be out and about. I think it would have even been too hot to enjoy fishing on the canal. I shot this from a small footbridge while walking along the Delaware Raritan Canal in Franklin Township one evening just after 7:30 PM a couple of weeks ago. It was hot but it was only a little taste of what was to come.

Its hot here too but we don't have the humidity. 95 on up is hot in any language.
Thanks for the comments on plum kuchen. Here is my Mother in laws sketchy recipe which has turned out pretty good for me.
oven 375 for 40 minutes
1 cube margerine , softened
1/2 cup sugar
add 3 eggs one at a time
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup unsifted flour
mix well, spread in 8"X8" pan
put fruit on top and sprinkle with 2 TBSP. cinnimon and sugar.
Wish she was still around to ask questions.
It tastes delicious warm with whipped cream.
I have also used fresh peaches from our trees.
Not going to be many this year. Curly leaf and something else has invaded the crop. (:(

What a gorgeous photo you've created, Laurie. So beautiful and serene. I understand the heat - we've had 100°+ weather here. UGH.
