It is Spring, at least that is what the calendar says but it is difficult to believe when you look out the window and see giant fluffy frozen white things falling from the sky. I suppose Winter still hasn't read the memo.

This was shot in April 2009 on a gorgeous, very warm Spring day. We were walking along the canal tow path in Princeton and saw lots of people taking advantage of the warm weather. Look how happy that couple in the canoe looks. I am anxious for those warm days to arrive.

Spring is a time of change and new beginnings. It is a time for important decisions in the lives of high school seniors across the nation and around the world as they wade through their college choices and offers.

My youngest son Jon is in his Senior year in high school and has spent the past several months applying to college and going to auditions for his major, music education/viola. He has received all of his replies from the schools and is quite pleased with the responses. He has narrowed it down to 2 schools...Boyer College of Music at Temple University and Boston Conservatory. There is still so much to consider. Jon is in the process of scheduling lessons from the viola teachers at both schools to see which is the best fit. University and Conservatory programs have different advantages and disadvantages. There is the size, a large University or a small intimate Conservatory setting. Location of course comes into play. Both are in vibrant cities with rich histories and lots of culture. While Philadelphia is much closer to home and is more familiar to him, Boston is just gorgeous and Jon loves Boston having been there a couple of times in the past. There is still so much to take into consideration while making his decision...cost of attending not being the least of them. Hopefully both schools with have competitive financial packages to offer him.

I thought the hardest part was behind him...getting through all those auditions seemed to be so nerve wracking, then waiting on the decisions as one by one the envelopes arrived in the mail or the emails announcing his admission status in the inbox...but little did we know that the fun was just starting! He has until May 1 to make his decision.
