Cape Henlopen – Green Heron

I took the Sigma 150-600 mm Contemporary lens to Cape Henlopen in Delaware to try it out there. It's really a pretty nice lens for the price. I am still coming to grips with it. I haven't had many opportunities to really use it. It is quite heavy so I need to use a monopod or a tri-pod most of the time.

It was a really hot day so I didn't stay very long and the birds seemed to be hiding as well. Saw just a handful of egrets and this green heron. I should have gotten there earlier in the morning before it got so hot. Next time! The fall should be a good time to catch the migrations.

 American Robin
Gray Catbird
UPS Bird

A few weeks ago I got a new 150-600mm superzoom lens. I took it to Sandy Hook to try it out on some birds. Not too shabby for the price.

I think this is one of the most beautiful hydrangeas I have ever seen. Taken at Longwood Gardens on 28 May 2017.

I'm hoping to get back in the saddle again...well actually spending more time behind the lens. It's been a long while since I have done any serious shooting but I am feeling renewed enthusiasm. So this will be the first of many new posts...I hope!

These blue jays were using our firepit as a feeding station. I hope they enjoyed it.
