Young Ecologist's Sister

The boy from the previous post has a beautiful younger sister. Again this was a candid shot and I really wish I had been prepared with a reflector to balance the light on her face better. Regardless, I still really like these very candid shots of the kids. They were so easy to photograph. I didn't manage to get a smile from her but I know she has a lovely smile. Her dad sent me a couple of shot of her flashing her beautiful smile. Although I must say I find her serious expression to be very "real" and holds a lot of impact for me if that makes sense?

Young Ecologist

This is the boy whose hand is in the previous post. This was shot on Saturday afternoon in Ken Lockwood Gorge in Hunterdon County NJ. He was there with his mom dad and sister exploring the ecosystem in the pools along the banks of the river there. They were having as blast and I snapped a few candids of the kids while we were talking with the parents. They graciously allowed me to post the photos that I took and I am grateful to them for granting me the permission to post them.

If I had planned to do a portrait shot like this, I would have liked to have either used my reflectors or perhaps some fill flash to balance the light on his face more, but I didn't plan on doing any portraits that day so I wasn't prepared. From now on the reflectors stay in the car with me!

Busy Weekend

It was a very busy weekend. Between the kids things, and working around the house, helping out a friend, organizing photos, and trying to get in some fun, it was quite hectic. But it was a very nice one indeed. It felt like summer, hot and hazy. I hope everyone had a good weekend too.

I did get out shooting too but because my computer time this weekend was spend solely on organizing my thousands of photos in Lightroom, I didn't have time to process but one or two of them. This is one of them. This was taken at a friend of ours house. Mark helps them to open their pool in the summer and the water level was really low so he had to fill it which takes hours and hours. They were away so he had to check on the level every few hours to see that it didn't overflow. We stopped there to check on the progress on our way someplace else. While Mark was messing with the pool I waited on the deck and noticed the bottle sitting on the rail and I thought it had a very summery feel to it so I of course shot it.

I only made a slight dent in organizing my photos, so I know what lies ahead for me over the next few days. I hope to make the rounds and visit you all this week.
